The Petekan Bridge

The Petekan Bridge is an old iron bridge and it is one of the historical legacies in the Dutch-East Indies. Located in the northern part of Surabaya, this bridge had a glory in its time. This bridge is used to connect one region and other areas in Kali Mas. Even though it was built in the Dutch-East Indies, this bridge had advanced technology. The Bridge could rise and lower the center so that the width of the stretching bridge will not interfere with the passing ships. Named Petekan because it was taken from the word in Javanese, Petek, which means pressed or pressed. In other words, Petekan Bridge is an elevated bridge that will open if there is a boat below it. This bridge has the original name Ophaalbrug and was built around the 1900s, by NV Braat and Co.
