Palu Disaster Victims Still Need Help

SURABAYAPAGI.com, Jakarta - Many victims of the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction in Palu, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi), still need help to rise after the disaster that struck several months ago. Secretary of Central Sulawesi Province, Muhammad Hidayat said that there were still many victims who had been living at several points of refuge. "We want to seriously help the victims. What is their priority now is building housing for victims. The Central Sulawesi Provincial Government has planned to build as many as 699 units, but since it was announced in three months until now only 210 units have been realized," he said through information press on Sunday (20/1). Therefore, his party opened up to the parties who wanted to channel aid. One of them was a representative from the Indonesian Large Cooperative Communication Forum (KBI Forkom) who visited Palu, Central Sulawesi, in order to provide assistance to victims of the earthquake and tsunami in affected locations such as Palu City and Donggala District. Irsyad Muchtar, KBI Forkom Coordinator handed over Rp. 500 million in cash assistance. The assistance was immediately received by Hidayat and subsequently it would be used for the needs of the refugees, both for assistance in strengthening business capital, kitchen utilities, and daily necessities. rk
